Subject: Please Engage with Our Community on Trombly’s Future
My name is [[Your Name]]. I am writing as a concerned member of the Grosse Pointe Public School System community to urge the Board to engage more openly and constructively with families regarding the future of Trombly and the broader growth and stability of our district. Many of us feel that our students — particularly those living south of Jefferson — have once again been caught in the crosshairs of ongoing Board conflicts. Decisions such as removing Trombly from the critical needs list for bond expenditures have left families uncertain about the district’s long-term plan and whether equity, transparency, and community input are being centered. Our community is simply asking for thoughtful engagement and a clear, student-focused path forward. Specifically, we hope the Board will: • Clarify what steps are necessary to bring Trombly back online, given its previous placement on the critical needs list. • Act with urgency on renovation planning, including requesting an accelerated plan from Plante Moran so the district is prepared for impending enrollment needs. • Consider the impact of program placement and capture on enrollment, especially as the south-of-Jefferson area is projected to see a strong incoming Kindergarten cohort. • Communicate the long-term vision for Trombly, including how class-size reductions and preschool programming factor into district capacity planning. • Explain the governance process behind removing Trombly from early bond funding and how this aligns with community priorities and survey data. At the heart of this issue is trust. Families want to believe that decisions are being made based on data, fairness, and what is best for students — not politics or personal disagreements. We want to work with you, and we hope you will take meaningful steps to rebuild confidence by listening to the community and addressing these concerns transparently. Please prioritize collaboration, clear communication, and a genuine partnership with your constituents. Our children deserve nothing less. Thank you for your time and for your service to our district. Sincerely, [[Your Name]]
